If you’re in your mid twenties and beyond we’re well and truly into wedding season. At this time of year I feel like I barely have time to unpack a makeup bag from one weekend to the next. I’m looking forward to a rare weekend at home these week and reflecting on some of the products that always come with me and, more importantly, never disappoint for a day of celebrations during the warm summer months.
Normally I avoid anything really full coverage and too matte, especially during the summer months. But the ultimate coverage complexion cream from Becca is an absolute dream. It never looks, or more importantly feels, too heavy. I love wearing a really glowy base underneath, something like Becca’s shimmering skin perfector, because it still shines through. So you get that lit from within glow combined with amazing coverage. It will see you through a full day of celebrations with no touch ups necessary.
Cream shadows are so easy to work with and give a really professional finish with minimal effort. Charlotte Tilbury’s eyes to mesmerise shadows are some of my favourites because they’re so creamy and blendable. Bette is a rich amber-gold tone and it works with either warm or cool toned browns in the crease. To make it pop even more you can use a slighter lighter gold shadow right in the centre of the lid – I love MUG’s foilded shadow in the shade “Magic Act”.
In keeping with the above theme about avoiding anything too heavy I’ve really been enjoying using a nude liner in the waterline recently. It opens up the eyes and makes your whole makeup look that bit more fresh. White eyeliners can be a little artificial looking but NYX’s wonder pencil is the perfect nude. They also come in a range of shades from light to deep so you can find your perfect match.
Benefit’s Rockateur blush is the prettiest rose gold shade. It has a sheen to it which is meant to combine a baked, powder and liquid blush effect in one. Because of this it really mimics how your skin looks and it sits seamlessly on top of your foundation. Blush is probably my least favourite makeup product and I never normally wear it but this is so incredibly subtle I can’t stop reaching for it. It looks quite dark in the box but it goes on very lightly and allows you to build up the colour.
The new black packaging made me fall in love with the all nighter setting spray from Urban Decay all over again. It’s always been an amazing product but the white bottle ended up covered in makeup and mine looked pretty grotty. This is still the best setting spray I’ve ever used. My makeup literally doesn’t move for 12 hours when I use this so it’s the perfect product to keep your base in place during a warm summers day.
If you’re off to a wedding, or any other lovely events this summer, I hope you have an amazing time! What are your HG summer makeup products?
